INTRODUCTION

Sir Syed School and College of Special Education (SSS&C of SE) was established in 1955 as a Middle School for the Deaf by an NGO (Sir Syed Volunteers Association). In 1975, it was upgraded to High School; in 1994, Diploma in Special Education (equivalent to HSSC) was introduced, and later, in 2003, Graduation (BA) classes were started. Presently, it imparts formal education from Nursery to Graduation level (Bachelor in Fine Arts – 4 Years Degree Programme) to students (Boys and Girls) with disabilities (Hard-of-Hearing and Speech Impaired).

SSS&C of SE is fully committed to following the National Education Policy, which envisages that “persons with disabilities should be rehabilitated to enable them to enter the mainstream of national life.” Similarly, SSS&C is fulfilling the resp in accordance with UN SDGs (Goal 4) on inclusive and equitable quality education and promotion of life-long learning…

To serve as a model institution offering a comprehensive learning environment and facilities for Hard-of-Hearing and Speech-impaired students, with the aim of equipping them with the skills necessary for becoming self-reliant and effective members of society.

Our aim is to empower Hard-of-Hearing and Speech-impaired students to achieve their full potential, become self-sufficient, and lead fulfilling lives by providing specialized education, skills training and supportive services in an inclusive and enabling environment.

Primary Years

Middle Years

We provide a distinctive, innovative, and thorough skills and need based elementary school qualification that is in line with national examinations.

Matric Tech

Matric-Tech is a program that provides basic technical training to students at the matric level. The program is designed to help students develop skills that can lead to better career opportunities.

Intermediate

An intermediate program for hard-of-hearing and speech-impaired students focuses on enhancing their technical skills, enabling them to participate in more practical activities, grasp new concepts, and potentially explore different cultural aspects. It also sharpens their writing skills by incorporating sign language to bridge the communication gap.

Bachelors of Fine Arts (Graphic Designing)

Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design is a four-year degree program that enables students to communicate ideas through visual and textual content. It combines the principles of typography and image composition.

Digital Revolution

The “digital revolution” in the academics of our Hearing Impaired students create significant impact of modern technology, particularly digital tools and platforms, in improving access to education and communication for our deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students, allowing them to participate more actively in learning through features like Light-emitting diodes (LED), sign language interpretation, accessible multimedia content, and interactive online learning environment.
