Introduction

INTRODUCTION

Sir Syed School and College of Special Education (SSS&C of SE) was established in 1955 as a Middle School for the Deaf by an NGO (Sir Syed Volunteers Association). In 1975, it was upgraded to High School; in 1994, a Diploma in Special Education (equivalent to HSSC) was introduced, and later, in 2003, Graduation (BA) classes were started. Presently, it imparts formal education from Nursery to Graduation level (Bachelor of Fine Arts – 4 Years Degree Program) to students (Boys and Girls) with disabilities (Hard-of-Hearing and Speech Impaired). SSS&C of SE is fully committed to following the National Education Policy, which envisages that “persons with disabilities should be rehabilitated to enable them to enter the mainstream of national life.” Similarly, SSS&C of SE is fulfilling the responsibility in accordance with UN SDGs (Goal 4) on inclusive and equitable quality education and promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all.
